Spanaway Transit Center Closes April 27 for 13 Weeks

Pierce Transit's Spanaway Transit Center at 20712 Mountain Hwy E will temporarily close starting Monday, April 27, and remain closed for approximately 13 weeks. The closure is tied to Pierce County's 208th Street East Sewer Extension project.

During the closure, Pierce Transit Route 1 and the Stream Community Line will not stop at the Spanaway Transit Center or the southbound bus stop near 8th Avenue East. Riders who normally use those stops will need to find alternate access points.

Pierce Transit is directing displaced riders to two alternate park-and-ride locations: the Roy Y Park & Ride and the Parkland Transit Center. Route 1 serves the Roy Y Park & Ride. Riders who use the Stream Community Line should check Pierce Transit's website or sign up for route alerts for specific detour information.

The Spanaway Transit Center is roughly 10 miles south of Puyallup. Puyallup-area residents who connect through Spanaway or use Route 1 for commuting may be affected by the service change. The closure is expected to last through mid-July 2026.
