Pierce Transit will offer free rides on Wednesday, April 22, in honor of Earth Day. The fare-free service applies to all Pierce Transit buses, SHUTTLE service for eligible customers, and the Runner on-demand service.
No special pass or code is required — riders can simply board without paying a fare for the full day. The promotion is available to all passengers across the Pierce Transit service area, which includes Puyallup and surrounding communities.
Pierce Transit says the event highlights public transit's role in reducing vehicle emissions. The agency notes that its riders collectively skip millions of car trips each year by choosing buses, SHUTTLE, Rideshare, or Runner instead of driving alone.
Earth Day is observed annually on April 22 to recognize environmental progress and raise awareness about protecting natural resources. Pierce Transit has offered fare-free rides on the holiday in previous years as part of that observance.
