Pierce County Planning and Public Works will repair a washed-out section of Ohop Valley Extension Road. The outboard side of the road was damaged during a 2021 flood event. The project will add engineered log jams at the toe of the slope and build a rock buttress up to the road. The slope is adjacent to Ohop Creek.
The project is under review with public comments due by August 31, 2026. The repairs aim to prevent future erosion and protect the road from further flood damage. The project is part of Pierce County's maintenance and operations efforts for the road.
Residents along Ohop Valley Extension Road may experience temporary construction activity during the project. The county will provide updates on the project timeline as work begins.
