Pierce County is offering small grants of up to $2,500 for community projects that improve habitat and water quality, including projects in the Puyallup-White River watershed. The 2026 grant cycle will award more than $70,000 total across four watersheds in the county. Applications are due May 6, 2026.
Nonprofit organizations, schools, teachers, tribes, local governments, and individuals are all eligible to apply. The Puyallup-White River watershed is one of four areas that will receive funding, alongside the Chambers-Clover Creek, Key Peninsula-Gig Harbor Islands, and Nisqually watersheds.
Past grants in the Puyallup-White River area have funded programs that teach elementary school students about salmon migration. Pierce County is partnering with watershed councils, regional nonprofits, and local governments to administer the program.
