Orangegate Park North Closed Until 2027 Reopening

Pierce County Parks closed all 40 acres of Orangegate Park North, located north of 84th Street East in the South Hill area, beginning July 7, 2025. The closure will remain in effect until the park's planned grand opening in 2027.

The closure was triggered by the Orangegate North Forest Health project, which involves forest thinning operations by active logging crews. Pierce County Parks said the closure is necessary to protect public safety around the logging work. Temporary signs were posted at park access points along 80th Street East, 50th Avenue East, 84th Street East, and 46th Avenue East.

The forest thinning is part of a broader park improvement project aimed at preparing the full 40-acre site for public use. Residents who notice issues at the site are encouraged to report them to Pierce County Parks.
