Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (CPFR) announced Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training for crews from July through October 2026.
The training prepares firefighters and paramedics for large-scale emergencies. CPFR also confirmed a Stage 2 Burn Ban took effect August 17, 2026, restricting outdoor burning in the district.
On July 18, CPFR responded to a cardiac arrest. Bystanders Jackie and Ethan performed CPR and used an AED, earning Citizen Lifesaving Awards. CPFR crews later reunited the pair with Vincent, the patient, to thank them for their quick actions.
CPFR logged 3,883 emergency calls in August, averaging 125 calls daily, with 78% being EMS-related. New hires Helan Yi and Emily Dervin joined the team this week.
