Central Pierce Fire & Rescue's Technical Rescue Team trained with Washington National Guard aviation crews throughout June 2026 to improve advanced hoist rescue operations.
The training, conducted with 1st Battalion, 168th General aviation crews, focused on complex rescue techniques that may be needed during emergencies. The Technical Rescue Team serves Puyallup and surrounding communities, responding to incidents requiring specialized equipment and expertise.
Firefighters responded to 3,840 emergency calls in June 2026, averaging 128 calls per day. The Fourth of July was particularly busy, with 252 calls between July 4 and July 5, nearly double the typical daily average.
