🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue's Board of Fire Commissioners voted on June 22, 2026, to expand their partnership with South Pierce Fire & Rescue through a new administrative services agreement effective July 1, 2026. The two fire districts have previously worked together under a limited administrative services agreement since 2024. The new agreement will allow for more comprehensive collaboration on wildfire preparedness, emergency response, and community safety initiatives across Pierce County. The partnership includes Crew 6, Central Pierce's wildland fire apprenticeship program, which responds to wildland urban interface fires and helps reduce wildfire fuels. Central Pierce also offers free defensible space assessments to homeowners to help protect properties from wildfires.
